On moving the writing home.

For a few years now my essays have lived on Medium, under the name slowframe. It was a fine arrangement — someone else’s house, but the rent was free and the neighbours were readers.

This site is the new address. New pieces will be written here first, in plain text, on a page I control from the type on down. The Medium archive stays where it is; the essays I still stand behind are listed in the canon.

Why move? Partly the usual reasons — platforms drift, feeds hurry you, and a personal site is the only shelf that doesn’t rearrange itself overnight. But mostly because writing at home changes the writing. There is no clap count here, no algorithm to please. Just the work, at a slower frame rate.
